Ketamine Therapy in Berlin

I now offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) as part of my Berlin practice. This approach combines psychotherapy with ketamine infusion sessions. It offers the possibility to combine therapy with altered states of consciousness, facilitating deeper processing, new insights and shifts in perspectives. Depending on your needs, preferences and what you’re comfortable with, we can work with lower ketamine doses (psycholytic approach), or higher doses offering deep psychedelic experience

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is primarily a medication that has been widely used for anaesthesia since it was first synthesised in 1960s. It is known to be one of the anaesthetics with best safety profile and few side effects. It has also been extensively studied and gained recognition as a valuable tool in mental health care. When combined with psychotherapy, ketamine can help access new perspectives, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and process trauma.

How Ketamine Therapy works

  • All ketamine sessions last about 2-2,5h, and are conducted in a cosy medical practice, offering comfortable environment for the experience, and in partnership with an experienced doctor who prescribes and administers the medicine, and is present on site to monitor the session and ensure safety. The doctor will also conduct screening prior to starting the treatment.
  • I will help you prepare, stay with you throughout the medicine session, and afterwards help you to integrate the experience.
  • In between and after the ketamine sessions, we will meet at my Berlin Friedrichshain practice or online for integration sessions, where we will work to make sense of your experiences and translate them into lasting change.
  • The treatment usually consists of a series of 6 ketamine sessions, once or twice per week, with an integration session after each of them. I offer the possibility of continuing ongoing therapy afterwards.

Who might benefit

Ketamine Therapy has shown to be helpful for patients with treatment resistant depression, where other methods didn’t bring the desired effects. It can also be used in treatment of anxiety, PTSD, and substance use disorders, among others.

Cost

The course of treatment is covered, in part or in full, by some of the private health insurance providers. Please confirm directly with them. Public insurance does not offer coverage at this point.

If paid privately, the cost is around 600€ per ketamine session plus assessment, preparation and integration. The total cost adds up to around 4500€ per course of treatment including 6 ketamine sessions. It is certainly an investment, which offers the possibility of condensed treatment, in many cases bringing effects in shorter period of time than traditional approaches. Especially for patients travelling from other locations to undergo Ketamine Therapy in Berlin, we will strive to condense the sessions to two per week to help with the logistics.
